Online Casino Poker

If you already know how to play regular poker, you're all set to play online poker, as the rules are no different from the common table poker. The only difference is of course that you play on a virtual table from the comfort of your home. If you enjoy poker games exclusively because of the human interaction that comes with it, then you're out of luck with online poker, as such interaction is obviously not possible through the wires.

While regular table poker requires you to carefully observe your opponents, with online poker you can relax and chill without having to worry about your rivals detecting those pesky little gestures you make when you have a good hand. Some argue that this takes away from the thrill that poker is supposed to be about, but others prefer this less intensive method of playing poker.

In case you have any doubt, the general rules are the same as in normal table poker: you have one or more hands and the objective is to get a combination of cards that is worth more than that of the dealer (or other players if you play multiplayer) in order to win the pot. You can play the same poker games as always: Poker Three, Pai Gow Poker, Red Dog, Let Them Ride Poker, Casino Hold 'em, etc. The rules of these poker variants are specific variations of the general poker rules.

In the most common variation of poker, 5 cards are dealt to each player, and the objective is to have a higher hand than the opponents or the dealer. The table on the right shows the general hand rankings that apply for almost all poker variants. If two or more players have an equal hand rank, the player with the highest cards wins. For example, a Straight Flush 9♠ 10♠ J♠ Q♠ K♠ beats another Straight Flush of 4♦ 5♦ 6♦ 7♦ 8♦, and a Three of a Kind 8♣ 8♥ 8♦ A♠ 4♦ beats a 8♠ 8♣ 8♣ Q♦ 9♦ because the Ace is higher than the Queen.
